Toronto EMDR

If you're looking for a powerful way to break through emotional blocks and achieve freedom from past trauma, EMDR offers solutions and options that go beyond the scope of normal counselling.

What is EMDR? Known in full as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR is a relatively new therapeutic technique developed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. EMDR has been used to help patients overcome fears, worries, anxiety, negative self-talk, PTSD, painful emotions, and even panic attacks using physical tools that help people to process and desensitize trauma.

EMDR has been extensively researched, and both clinical studies and MRI brain scans show that EMDR therapists are able to help their clients create effective and empowering change.

How EMDR Works

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing uses eye movements, sounds and tapping to activate both sides of the brain. These physical protocols are done while a patient focuses on a traumatic event or thought, enabling mind, body and emotions to work together synergistically to process and desensitize the memory. During EMDR, a person's mental and emotional systems learn new ways to deal with old information, alleviating pain and enabling people to move beyond their previous limitations.

EMDR is one of the newest additions to my practice, and I'm already seeing powerful results with my clients. As of January 1st, 2014, I am now a Certified Therapist in EMDR. Contact me by phone or email if you'd like to learn more about EMDR or to try this new approach to psychotherapy.
